From Tea to Toasts

The celebration began with an intimate tea ceremony held in the lounge of the couple’s Brooklyn residence, where I created a custom installation to give this meaningful tradition its own warm and intentional setting.

The evening continued at Wenwen, a modern Taiwanese restaurant in Brooklyn where vintage Taiwanese references meet a playful, contemporary New York spirit. As both designer and event manager at the restaurant, I worked with the existing character of the space, layering in red draping and lanterns, designing custom menus, and coordinating a lion dance that brought an energetic and celebratory moment to the evening.

With a Chinese-heritage bride and Western groom, the celebration became a natural meeting of cultures, traditions, and personalities. Rather than trying to fit everything into one aesthetic, we embraced the mix—honoring the rituals that were meaningful to the couple and their families while keeping the celebration relaxed, playful, and modern. The result felt distinctly New York: a little traditional, a little unexpected, and completely personal to the couple.
